Art journalling

I wanted to write about my newest finding: art journalling. But I waited a little because I wanted to be able to show you some examples and I'm not that fast...
But let me start by telling what it is and why it grabbed me.
Ik wilde schrijven over mijn nieuwste vondst: art journalling. Alleen wilde ik nog even wachten om wat te kunnen laten zien en het gaat niet zo snel...
Art journalling is just what the word says: make a journal, a diary, and make it artful.
If that scares you off; the word art has a relative meaning.  It's not about showing the world how brilliant you are (although you may be), it's about expressing yourself. Some pages you will never show anyone at all. You don't have to, they are yours.
Sometimes the emphasis is on the words and sometimes on the 'art'.
Art journalling is wat het woord al zegt: journal is een dagboek, een logboek, een verslag over wat je bezig houdt en art is kunst. Nou moet je daar niet van schrikken, kunst is relatief. Het gaat hier niet om de wereld te laten zien hoe briljant je bent (al kun je dat wel zijn, hoor), het gaat om jezelf te uiten, om expressie. Sommige bladzijden zul je nooit willen laten zien, aan niemand. Dat hoeft ook niet, het is helemaal aan jou.

Or just google on the word art journalling and you'll drown in options and ideas.

The only thing is: stop looking for ideas and get started yourself!
Het enige is: stop met kijken naar anderen voor ideeën, en begin zelf!

I chose an existing old boek. I like the outside too much to alter it, but the inside I started to prepare the pages with gesso.
Ik heb gekozen voor een bestaand boekje om te veranderen. Ik vind de buitenkant alleen te leuk, inclusief titel, dus die laat ik zo. Maar de binnenkant heb ik eerst met gesso bewerkt.

 This is the first page. It's the warmest winter ever, but I just thought about snow.

De eerste pagina. Al is het de warmste winter sinds tijden, moest ik gewoon aan sneeuw denken.

THinking snow, I think of fire too. I have to think up something to complete it (words, ideas, theme?) but that's the nice thing: it doesn't have to be ready at once.

Denk je sneeuw, dan ook vuur. Ik moet er nog iets bij verzinnen, maar het hoeft niet allemaal in een keer.
