Sea Colors Stones

Ik heb de laatste tijd veel kralen gemaakt met bloemetjes in zeetinten, dus ik wilde wat anders proberen, maar wel in dezelfde kleuren.

I have

made a lot of beads lately ​​with flowers in sea colors, so I wanted to try something different, but with the same colors.
Ik heb eerst een plak effen klei genomen wat de ondergrond wordt.

First I

took some plain clay what would be the subsoil.

Toen heb ik een plakje van de bloemencane wat dikker afgesneden dan ik normaal doe. Dit plakje heb ik in dunne plakjes gesneden dwars door het bloemetje heen.

Then I

cut of a slice of the flowercane, a bit thicker than I normally do. This slice I cut into thin slices right through the flower.

Deze plakjes heb ik op de effen plak klei gelegd en toen uitgerold, zodat het weer een platte plak werd.

These

slices I put on a plain slice of clay and then rolled out, so the clay was flat again.

Om een grote kraal te maken, heb ik de plak over een bol klei gedrapeerd en mooi aangedrukt en gerold tot het een mooie kraal werd.

To make

a large bead I slice draped over a ball and nicely pressed and rolled until it was a nice bead.

Doodles

As I promised I am going to show you some of my doodling that I have done lately.
I bought a small Moleskine notebook (three actually, Volant I think) which I really love.
At first I was almost too scared to start in it. But when I did it felt great, the quality of the paper, the touch and feel of every detail, it does make a difference!
I won't show every page I have done until now, but here are some:

 I was a bit ill for some days, but not so much that I couldn't enjoy sitting on the couch and doodling.

And this is another little project.

Metal coating on polymer clay

So it's my turn again to write what we've been up to the last time. 
My sister has been away, far away, to tropical warm places, and the only creative thing she was expected to do there was taking loads of photographs and enjoying the holiday... But I have been busy alright. I'll start with polymer clay, but with a new finding: Swellegant metal coating and dye-oxides and patinas. I really like the effect, it is in fact real metal, and the oxides really reacts with it, like rust. The only thing is that polymer clay is so light weight, it can't be metal, but I can imagine that this is a huge advantage when you make larger wearable art.

Het is weer mijn beurt om te schrijven waar wij  mee bezig waren de laatste tijd .
Mijn zus is weg geweest, ver weg, naar tropisch warme plaatsen, en het enige creatieve wat van haar verwacht werd was het nemen van massa’s foto's en gewoon genieten van de vakantie ... Maar ik ben wel degelijk bezig geweest.
Ik zal beginnen met polymeer klei , maar mét een nieuwe vondst : Swellegant metalen coating en dye- oxides en patina. Het effect is echt mooi, het is in feite echt metaal, en de oxides reageren echt  met het metaal, zoals roest. Het enige is dat polymeer klei zo licht is, dat het geen metaal kan zijn, maar ik kan me voorstellen dat dit ook een enorm voordeel is, wanneer je grotere sieraden maakt.

<< Eerst heb je vijf verschillende metalen coatings . Gebruik deze om de meeste oppervlakken te coaten (polymeer klei natuurlijk, maar ook metaal, gips , kunststof , hout, keramiek , en meer !).

I ordered some bottles to try out from the States, and it did take a while (and had I known about the extra costs of tax, I would have bought them here in the Netherlands), but once I recieved them I wanted to try them out. So I made some little things from polymer clay and I tried different combinations. I bought silver and iron metal coatings, verdigris, dark antiquing patinas and from the dye-oxides caribean blue and blood red.
I don't quite remember actually which I used where, but this is how it turned out:

Ik bestelde een aantal flesjes om uit te proberen uit de Verenigde Staten , en dat duurde dus een tijdje (en had ik geweten over de extra kosten van de belasting bij invoering in NL, zou ik ze hier hebben gekocht), maar zodra ik ze binnen had, wilde ik ze natuurlijk uitproberen. Dus maakte ik een aantal kleine dingen van fimo klei en ik probeerde verschillende combinaties uit. Ik kocht zilver en ijzer metal coatings ,  van de patinas donker antiek en verdegris en van de kleurstof-oxiden Caribische blauw en bloedrood .
Ik kan me niet precies meer herinneren wat ik waar heb gebruikt, maar dit is hoe het is geworden:
